New Moon in Cancer – July 14, 2026

What if the one thing standing between you and the life you really want isn’t out there somewhere… but a part of you that never felt safe enough to be fully yourself?
This New Moon is here to show us exactly that. It’s inviting all of us to step forward with newfound strength, courage, and authenticity.

The Astrology

New Moons are beautiful moments of fresh beginnings—when the Sun and Moon come together and spark something new. This one is at 21°58’ Cancer, joined closely by Mercury Retrograde. It’s one of the most self-reflective New Moons we’ve had all year, helping us break through emotional blocks around feeling safe and secure.

This energy isn’t just about what we think. It’s about tuning into how we feel. Old emotions we’ve carried for years may finally come to the surface to be healed. You might suddenly understand something deep within that you could never quite get to the bottom of before.

With Mars conjunct Uranus in Gemini, watch your words…especially with your family and loved ones. Emotions can run hot and make us a little more assertive or rebellious than usual. Take a breath before you speak.

The Backstory

Remember September and November 2025? Jupiter was moving through Cancer, hitting these same degrees as the New Moon and Mercury Retrograde. Something important started shifting then, a turning point that’s been gently unfolding for the last 10 months. Whatever was taking shape under the surface is now ready to be born.
Mercury Retrograde is giving us a chance to revisit what still needs care from that time. We weren’t fully ready before… but we are now. This New Moon feels incredibly potent for a real new beginning.

What This Looks Like in Real Life

Since last fall, many of us have been questioning where we truly belong. The areas of life connected to Cancer in your chart (especially 15–25°) have been stirring themes of authenticity, emotional fulfillment, and that sneaky imposter feeling.
If you’ve felt torn between your private self and how you show up publicly, or like something just doesn’t fit anymore—this is your moment to realign and reset. We’re releasing old fears and building the emotional security we need to move forward. Mercury Retrograde is here to help us tie up those final loose ends.

The Deeper Cancer Work

Cancer is the sign of home, roots, and our emotional and psychological foundation. It is our inner womb, the place where we give birth to ourselves. It reminds us we must feel at home within ourselves first before we can feel at home anywhere else. This is prime time for reparenting ourselves, nurturing that inner child, healing any mother wound we may still be carrying, and becoming our own safe place.

Many people with strong Cancer/4th house placements in their birth charts, grew up in families where their emotional needs were neglected in some way.  Some even had complicated and/or estranged relationships with their mother or primary caretaker.  They had to learn to care for themselves earlier than they should. This New Moon is an excellent time to heal any childhood wounds we may still be carrying…particularly around a lack of nurturing and love we may have grown up with.

You also might feel more sensitive, intuitive, or called to retreat into your shell. That’s okay. Give yourself permission to feel everything. Old emotions, toxic family patterns, and unmet inner child needs may surface. Trust your intuition. This isn’t about thinking your way through it. It’s about FEELING IT ALL so you can heal it.

By the end of this Mercury Retrograde cycle, so many of us will feel lighter. Like a weight we didn’t even realize we were carrying has finally lifted. We’ll see ourselves, our loved ones, and our path more clearly.

It’s okay to feel all your feelings right now. Sometimes feeling more and thinking less is exactly the new beginning you’ve been looking for.

Wishing everyone a beautiful New Beginning.
